Sophie Viney is an award winning composer and teacher and has received premiers of her work at the Royal Festival and Wigmore Halls with artists such as the Philharmonia, London Oriana Choir and Mezzo Soprano Sarah Walker. She studied composition, piano and conducting at the Royal College of Music and Guildhall School of Music & Drama. She is currently composer in association with Bedford Modern School and Wootton Upper School & Arts College.
"I have been composing and playing piano since about the age of 6. I wrote my first mini musical play when I was about 7 or 8 - by no means a master piece - and instead of practising music that my piano teacher set me, I would often make my own version with (ahem)...‘improvements!’”
Sophie is a keen collaborator and has composed and arranged music for theatre. Most recently she composed songs, dances and incidental music for a production of The Wild Things which ran in December 2012 at The Place Theatre Bedford.
